Water Rate Change Notice & FAQ
Important Information About Your Water Rates
Dean Water Supply Corporation is committed to providing safe, reliable drinking water to our customers. One of our existing wells is aging and losing production, making it necessary to construct a replacement well to ensure continued reliable service.
The cost to construct this new well is approximately $3.4 million, which requires the Corporation to obtain financing. To repay this loan and maintain our water system infrastructure, a water rate increase is necessary. This project will help ensure that Dean Water Supply Corporation can continue to provide dependable water service to our community for many years to come.
The Dean Water Supply Corporation (“Corporation”) Board of Directors held a public meeting on March 10, 2026 and voted to increase the monthly rates for water service for all members. The new rates will take effect 52 days after this board decision, on May 1, 2026, and the new monthly rates will begin starting with the June 2026 billing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why are water rates increasing?
Water rates are increasing because one of the Corporation’s existing wells is aging and losing production. To maintain a reliable water supply for our customers, Dean Water Supply Corporation must construct a replacement well.
Why are only some meter sizes highlighted in yellow on the Base Rate chart?
The 4 highlighted meter sizes are the current sizes we have within our water system. The vast majority of our meters are the Standard Residential, 5/8” x 3/4" meter at the top of the chart. Ninety-four percent of our Members are billed for a Standard Residential meter. Rates for all meter sizes are required to be disclosed by the state and federal government.
Why can’t the existing well just be repaired?
Over time, wells can lose production due to age and natural changes in the aquifer. In this case, the well can no longer produce enough water to reliably serve our system. Constructing a new well is the most reliable long-term solution.
What will the new well cost?
The estimated cost of the project is approximately $3.4 million. This includes drilling the well, installing pumps and electrical equipment, connecting it to the water system, and other required infrastructure.
Why does the Corporation need a loan?
Projects of this size are typically financed through long-term loans so the cost can be spread over many years. This allows the system to make the necessary improvements while keeping rates as reasonable as possible.
Will the entire project cost be paid for by customers?
Yes. As a member-owned water system, Dean Water Supply Corporation operates on a non-profit basis. Water rates are used only to operate, maintain, and improve the water system.
How will this affect my monthly bill?
The impact on each customer’s bill will depend on water usage. Customers who use less water will see a smaller increase, while higher usage will result in a larger change. The new rate schedule is included in this notice.
When will the new rates take effect?
The new rates will take effect on May 1st, which will affect the June billing period.
When will the new well be completed?
Construction of the new well is expected to begin once financing and regulatory requirements are completed later this summer to early 2027. The goal is to have the well operational as soon as possible by late 2027, or early 2028 to ensure continued reliable service.
